About Us
At the Good food Club we craft seasonal catering along the Mendocino Coast, shaping gatherings that celebrate both the land and the people who nurture it. Our menus are guided by local farms, fishmongers, the rhythm of the seasons, and the relationships we share with neighbors and friends. Often it's the same hands that plant the seeds are the ones preparing the meals. Each event is a collaboration, designed alongside our clients to honor their vision while highlighting the flavors, stories, and textures of this place. Fresh, local, and rooted in connection, our food invites guests to taste the land, the care, and the moments we cherish most.
History
The journey of our love for food and connection to the land has been deeply rooted in both of us ever since we were children. Each of us learned to garden and cook from our grandparents at a young age and continued to grow these skills throughout our adolescence. We began to hone into land stewardship and conscious cooking starting in 2014 when we left San Francisco for a full-time “off-grid” lifestyle change. Having our version of “Back to the Land” really encouraged our exploration and expansion of bringing a nourishing fun vibe to events which led us to begin our private catering and event coordinating business.
The Good Food Club was officially established in 2020 when all our private catering gigs were put on hold with the rest of the world. 2020 was going to be our biggest year yet for event catering and then in-person events were canceled due to the pandemic. In the late spring, we began to have a few friends over here and there, mostly hanging outside around the mini skate ramp and dreaming of big ideas. One day, Margaret decided to take notes on all these big dreams and soon enough The Good Food Club was formed.
We started with a simple splash website that announced a special meal we were offering and then we shared it with our friends. We picked a day to do a “drop” and gave everyone a week to get their orders in. Once an order was placed and we received payment, our website would send a confirmation on where the pop-up location would be. Since we were doing this pretty renegade style, we wanted to make sure only our fans and loyal customers knew where we would be. For every drop, we would pick a different location such as the Lighthouse or a specific mile marker pull-out with a scenic view. We started making zines and buttons as extra add ons for each pop-up and they became a fun bonus for our customers.
Now that the world has resumed post pandemic, we’re back to our full-service catering that people know and love.
